The food is exquisite, the service is great and the atmosphere is perfect!
Super Restaurant, Atmosphäre toll, super Essen, aber wirklich teuer...
Benoit is good but not great. Everything (except the wines) is mediocre. Was that actually Dover Sole? it was fishy ! The wine list is great. The sommelier is not; clueless actually. Great location. Could be so much more but it’s not.
enoit Restaurant beckons diners into a world of French culinary excellence and enchantment. On a recent visit, I had the pleasure of indulging in their signature dish, the Cookpot of Vines & Potato with Truffle Vinaigrette, and it was an experience to remember. The Cookpot of Vines & Potato with Truffle Vinaigrette embodies the essence of French comfort cuisine elevated to new heights. Each bite was a symphony of flavors, with tender vegetables and creamy potatoes mingling harmoniously with the earthy richness of truffle vinaigrette. It was a dish that spoke of tradition yet delighted with modern flair, leaving me craving for more long after the last bite. What truly sets Benoit apart is its charming outdoor seating area, perfect for a romantic date night under the stars. The ambiance is intimate and inviting, with soft lighting and cozy seating creating an atmosphere that is both relaxed and refined. Whether you're whispering sweet nothings over candlelight or simply enjoying each other's company, Benoit provides the ideal backdrop for a memorable evening with your loved one.
After theatre dining on Good Friday, everything was perfect for our party of four.
Absolutely the worst eggs Benedict I’ve ever had — cold, no meat, no hollandaise, no bread, no flavour. Just awful. Very inattentive service too. Front and back of house need to get it together. I lived in Paris for years and this place is an embarrassment to French Bistro culture. Not to mention the price, which is absolutely taking the p*ss.
We’re usually ones to indulge in a nice restaurant like this, but it’s as if the servers took us ordering teas and coffees for a first round as a sign we weren’t going to spend a lot of money and then just didn’t pay us any attention. They kept forgetting we existed, even though our section was pretty much empty. We were bounced between two servers that didn’t seem to be communicating with each other, given we were asked the same questions, menus were given and then taken away without an order being made, drinks forgotten. To their credit, the servers all seemed highly trained- we just weren’t benefitting from it. Also the Easter menu left a lot to be desired, it was the first time I’ve ordered an eggs Benedict where it’s totally cold, with little to no hollandaise, virtually no salt or flavour, served on a cracker. If you’re going to change a classic that much, so that’s it virtually unrecognisable, maybe give some indication. It was nice that the server offered to substitute our food, but then he took over 20 minutes to come back to take the order- we just had enough at that stage. I usually think “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all”, but I can’t get it off my mind how little they seemed to think of us. Also the sommelier only offering us a champagne special, but not enquiring what we were eating or offering any real insight into wine pairing, that felt frankly tacky. That being said, if the food and service was good, we would’ve been on the special champagne in no time, rather than being so disappointed we could only finish our tea and leave. I’m a trained fine dining host, I studied Front of House service, I’ve been a venue manager now for 3 years- this is all to say, I have a deep appreciation for service. And I’m not hard to please, I rarely send food back if I can find at least some redeeming quality to it, I never mind waiting 20+ minutes on drinks and service if I can see there’s a reason why, I’m just happy for good food, good company, and consistent service. But what a let down. The little cheese puffs, the bread basket, and our side of fries were all nice (not the best I had in my life, but would’ve made a perfectly decent pairing to a nicer meal), so I can’t say the food was all together bad. The tea was nice, although poured for us before it was properly steeped- at least to my taste. And the venue itself is beautiful. So I can’t say one star, something with that much potential for a great experience can’t be one star. But I would be hard pressed to recommend it for anything beyond the complimentary bread.
