This place started in 1939 as chicken fry house and has been a staple in Jacksonville for a long time Enjoying our last meal here in the name of progress for apartments #WRONG

Heard this place was closing and we never got to try it so we came in thinking they would be going out with a bang. We sat there 2nd on the list with all the tables outside completely open and they didn't seat us. After 20 min of waiting inside where it was quite warm we decided to give up. When I told the hostess we were going to take off she said she was sorry. Too bad, I really wanted to try this spot and the baby was really hungry. Now we're at home cooking... womp womp

It was a pleasure being able to eat at this place one last time before they officially closed. So sad to see any local business close, especially after so many years. WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER THIS PLACE!

One full hour for gator bites to go… smells weird in there too.

Amazing food. Amazing atmosphere. Amazingly well trained staff. Polite beyond belief. Gonna miss this place… see ya in orange park!!!

Love the original recipe fried chicken. Tastes like the original beach road chicken. The cream peas are great! Sad to see it going away.

I'm sorry, this food wasn't worth it at all. And neither was the customer service... We ordered the Captain's platter combo dinner. The shrimp and the deviled crab was so dry and overcooked. The fish had no flavor at all. All the food was extremely oily. We also order pick 3 dinner. Which I chose all blackened trigger, red snapper, and shrimp. When you open the plate it looks as if it's only one piece of fish and the shrimp sitting on top. But it did end up being 2 different pieces. Which ended up being so overcooked and so oily it looked like I put on lipgloss after eating one small piece. And then the drinks... We paid 3.99 per drink which ended up being kid size drinks or maybe a small... For 3.99 we should have gotten a large size cup. Overall we paid almost $80 for the meal but it wasn't worth that at all in any way. I've had so much about this place and was expecting to be blown away but we won't be back.
