Balboa Catering

Balboa catered our September wedding and the food was incredible. Balboa offered so many options, creativity, and customization. Our guests especially raved about the smoked short ribs. The Balboa team was so attentive during the event and overall a pleasure to work with.

I had a wonderful experience with Balboa recently. I had hired them for a holiday dinner and the food was absolutely delicious, it was presented beautifully snd made my life so much easier. The food is very elevated and felt like we were eating at a Michelin star restaurant right in our home but also more affordable. The staff was next level and incredibly helpful. I will definitely be using Balboa for more upcoming events. It’s a gem and very impressive to guests.

We used Balboa Catering for a 3 day office event. From start to finish they were fantastic. They helped me create custom meals to accommodate a vegan coworker and went above and beyond to make my job of coordinating the event easier. We had coworkers coming to Philadelphia from all over the country and one day a local Philly employee got cheesesteaks for everyone, but they ate the catered lunch instead. After the event, one coworker said to me "I felt seen and appreciated" with respect to the quality of the food. It was 3 days of hard core meetings and we were going for next level quality with the food and Balboa Catering helped us achieve that goal.

Balboa helped me throw a surprise cocktail party for my wife. We were 20 people and everyone raved about the entire experience. The food was amazing, the servers were fantastic, the bartender was cranking out drinks, and they left my house cleaner than it was when they arrived. I have now used Balboa for a number of different occasions and cannot recommend them enough.

The entire Balboa team and experience was amazing - my wife's 40th birthday party was perfectly executed. The staff was fun and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious - each bite was better than the next. Thanks again for everything Alex & Jocelyn!

Working with the Balboa team was an absolutely amazing experience. Not only did they make INCREDIBLE food for our wedding, They helped with so much more than that. We had a 200+ person, very DIY backyard wedding. Yes, I know. Crazy. Balboa helped so much, though. Not only did they make delicious food… they had live chefs, provided the staff, the bartenders, helped me with the rentals for the ENTIRE wedding (glassware, tables, linens, forks, etc.), came to my rental appointment with me, did head counts to make sure that we would have enough of everything, helped with setting up & breaking down the whole event…. And so much more. We worked very closely with Jocelyn, and she was absolutely incredible. We have a not so easy to please crowd & we have heard nothing but raving reviews about everything. The food, the experience, the staff members, the list goes on. We’ve actually heard from several family/friends that they contacted & hired Balboa for other events immediately after the wedding. Usually wedding food gets a “it was fine” review from me, but not with Balboa. They go above & beyond. The food is absolutely divine. I can not wait to experience it again. Not your average caterer!! Balboa went above and beyond to make our wedding a foodie's dream-come-true. Alex crafted a custom menu around our favorite foods and every single bite was amazing. Alex, Jocelyn, and their entire team impressed us in every way, from the initial planning calls to the beautiful spread of food they created for our special day. They were also incredibly flexible when we downsized from 120 to 30 guests, quickly reworking the menu to accommodate the change in plans. Our family and friends are still talking about how amazing the food was at our wedding, and we will definitely be recommending Balboa to anyone who is looking for a truly unique and delicious catering experience.

Balboa is truly in a league of its own. Calling Balboa a "wedding caterer" feels like a disservice to the quality of their food and care that goes into every aspect of their culinary experience. Chef Alex and Jocelyn expertly curated the perfect dinner and brunch menus for our guests, and even coordinated all of our rentals for the weekend too. Their team is equally wonderful too- everyone who took care of our event was so kind and professional. A few guests commented that the food was the best they've ever had at a wedding!

Chef Alex and his team did an absolutely phenomenal job for our 110 person wedding in October 2021. Alex went above and beyond to curate a 100% gluten free wedding to accommodate my celiac disease. From sushi, to yakitori, to a HUMONGOUS cheese board, Balboa wowed our guests. Did I mention they were able to pull off an incredible meal without running water or an official kitchen?! They were able to guide us through renting a working kitchen at our rustic venue. Thank you, Balboa, for providing a memorable meal to kick off our marriage!

Having Balboa cater our wedding was an all-around phenomenal experience. We knew we didn't want "typical" catered wedding food at our wedding, and Balboa truly provided us with a delicious, top-level, restaurant-quality meal. Jocelyn was great to work with and was so accommodating when we wanted to tweak small things here and there. The food itself was incredible - we ended up having to simplify our original plans quite a bit due to covid, and even the "simpler" menu from Balboa was delicious. Balboa was also extremely accommodating when we needed to downsize and make drastic changes to our plans due to covid. We can't recommend Balboa enough.
