People were nice. Sat outside above the ocean, very nice.

This place is our family's go to dinner spot on Sand Key. We love the atmosphere of this place. Outside dining is the way to go, if you don't mind the wait. Once seated outdoors you can expect expansive views of Clearwater Bay, you may even see a dolphin if you're lucky. Aside from the views, the food and drinks are great. The menu is Florida fare with American restaurant vibes. The fried calamari appetizer is top notch, along with their lobster bisque soup. The entrees are plentiful and you can expect to see locally caught fish on the menu alongside burger and fries. Also, the prices are fairly reasonable given today's market. Every year we visit this restaurant and every time we are not disappointed. We cannot recommend this place enough! Vegetarian options: There are many vegetarian options on the menu, you may want to confirm with the server before ordering because there are a lot of items that have dairy on them. Dietary restrictions: I am gluten and dairy free and I am able to get a good meal at Backwaters. Parking: There is valet parking available for a fee. It is very hard to find parking at this lot because it is a small lot. Kid-friendliness: They have a kid's menu that includes chicken tenders and fries. Also they have highchairs available.

The service here is exceptional! Don't miss out on the sliders and a Dockside Margarita! The wedge salad topped with grilled Mahi is also one of my favorite choices.

Went there for a birthday celebration, and it was great! We sat waterside and briefly saw some dolphins. We enjoyed Seared Ahi Tuna for an appetizer. Perfect! My wife had a salad while I had Lobster Bisque before our entrees. The bisque was phenomenal! HIGHLY recommend it! For our entrees, she had the daily special, a Yellowfin Snapper, and she loved it. The filet was topped with a crab bisque that was divine! I had the Blackened Grouper. It did not disappoint! Lastly, we split a decadent Molten Chocolate Cake dessert. A rare treat that was a delicious finish to a great meal. Highly recommend Backwaters. Parking: Definitely use the valet service! The lot is not that big, and has to accommodate numerous businesses!

Love, love, love this place. We went for lunch and were seated right away. It has amazing outdoor seating right on the water. We even got to see a manatee while we were there. The staff were amazing and very friendly. The salmon was phenomenal and the prices were fantastic! We will definitely be back on our next trip.

A very relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere. Good food at a good price and had excellent service.

Sat at back porch area overlooking the bay while we ate. Food was very good as was the service, we'll be back!

Wonderful

The food was great! I ordered a New York Strip and it was perfect! One of the greatest steaks I have ever had. Eduardo was the best server! He did a great job and made sure our order was correct and that we left happy. 5 stars!
