BABALU - Overton Square

I’ve been visiting Babalu for about 4 years! I have visited alone and with friends. The atmosphere and vibe are always what I need to help me relax and enjoy my food and drinks! My absolute favorite is the freshly made guacamole and chips! Check out Babalu and you’ll enjoy just a nice, laid back and even engaging time with pleasant workers!!

Enjoyed taco Tuesday with flavorful warm juicy tacos

We went there, our wait time was 20 minutes, we waited longer and we were 9th on the list, I look over and they let people who were behind us on the waiting list cut us through because they were basketball players, absolutely outraged. And when brought up to the manager he pulled out excuses after excuses. Do not come here unless you want to be treated horribly.

Came to Memphis to visit my son all the way from Nashville, he is a medical student here. Went to Babalu as a party of 5, they told us it was a 20-30 minute wait. We waited 35. A party of 7 came in after us and they were allowed ahead of everyone, while they were 10th in line and the largest party in the queue. They had skipped people who were in line for 45+ minutes because it was a Memphis basketball player. There was a vascular surgeon ahead of the basketball player, yet the athlete was allowed to skip people who had been waiting for over 45 minutes, while that gentleman who save lives was in the line and doing more important work in the Memphis community. No one should use their celebrity status to cut in line. If this player was so great they should’ve had more honor and honesty. Shame on the workers, the hostesses, and the manager.

Loved everything about this place!! Only complaint is my lump crab cakes were small....

Came here for brunch on a Sunday. Sat at the bar. Food was great, got the chilaquiles (Mexican here) and had a great authentic flavor. I would just make them spicier but that’s just my opinion. The margaritas I had were great too.

This spot is the ultimate quiet fun place, and it always has good weekend vibe. It's been my go-to favorite spot in Memphis, and I swing by at least once a month for a good time!
