Hole in the wall gem of an Ethiopian restaurant. Love the veggie combo, something so right about eating with your hands ☺️
Absolutely delicious Ethiopian food. The grilled meat was tender, and the lentils and greens were buttery. Huge sharing platters, as well - three people could easily eat off of just one. Highly recommended!
This is a very casual spot with delish Ethiopian food. Nothing fancy, just good food. I would definitely recommend.
Probably the best Ethiopian food in L.A. They cook it fresh to order with high-quality meats, very tender, and good portions. We don't go here often though, because the food advantage is outweighed by the long delays in getting the food. We have never waited less than 40 minutes after ordering. Also the service isn't the greatest and the atmosphere is cramped and not the best. So depends on what you want -- great food, or a more comfortable, all-around dining experience. If you want the former, Awash is your choice. If the latter, there are plenty of other Ethiopian places nearby with really good food that are quicker and more comfortable inside, with better service.
So delicious, you'll come back again I live far away, but still drive there just to grab some. Delicious n' fresh cuisine but the service needs to improve, the elder waitress is a bit stressed out due to short staff?
My family has been looking for a new regular Ethiopian place after our old favorite Ibex closed. We've tried three or four places and this place was a clear winner! The food was rich and deep in flavors. We had the veggitarian combo and a beef and chicken dish. We wanted the fish as that was the best dish at Ibex, but they were out. The meat was crispy as like it was flash fried which gives it a great texture with the sauce and spongy injira. The injira had a great texture and subtle flavor. It did come out cold and we would have preferred it warm. The staff always keep us stocked so there was no pause in enjoying the great food The clientle appeared to be a lot of locals which made for a warm atmosphere and suggested the food was fabulous before we even sat down. The interior appears recently renovated, it was clean and modern. The bathroom sink was great! Good water pressure, hot water, and beautiful bowl sink. I totally recommend this place, especially if you haven't had Ethiopian before, this will be a great introduction.
