Automat

Judging by the quality of food and baked goods, you would think this was a fancy restaurant. However, Automat is a fast-casual eatery/bakery with "number-at-table" service and people quietly working on laptops or reading books peppered throughout the dining room. The atmosphere is great with a lot of natural sunlight, so it's a prime place to work remote and grab a bite. I went for an early lunch and it was quiet enough to enjoy each others' company. The chicken sandwich is everything you want in one; a little sloppy but not too much so; saucy and flavorful; crispy and tender. I loved the candy cap brick toast, but I'm a sucker for candy caps. Partner thought it was lacking a bit of something. If it were up to my inner fat kid, we would've gotten every baked good and left the restaurant spherical. However, expressing self-control, we kept it minimal. The focaccia was next level so do yourself a favor and save your carbs for this meal before you go.

A very cute place to catch up with friends, do some work, or read a book! Service fee is included so you don’t need to worry about tipping and the vibes are very clean and cute. They have actual food here but I personally love their brown sugar latte!

One star for one out of five items on their menu being decent and worth the exorbitant prices. Check out the hilariously bland $9 breakfast sandwich which mcdonalds surpasses.

love Automat and sad that they are closing - almost everything i've had since they opened has been excellent! If you are thinking of checking them out GO as they are closing on Aug 27th, 2023. Came in on a Sunday morning peak time. Waited 40 minutes in line and once we got to order at the front they told us the wait for any hot food would be another 40minutes. Wished they gave us who were waiting outside a heads up so I could choose whether to pivot or wait more. We got our seats and waited, they gave newspapers to pass the time. To be honest, not worth the wait and the hype. We ordered the Automat breakfast sandwich, the grilled cheese with egg, fries, and some baked goods. Breakfast sandwich bread was too soggy on the bottom, the sandwich was smothered in a spinach cream aioli type sauce that was too much and made the sandwich way too rich with nothing cutting the fat. It was also too messy to eat with the sauce going everywhere. Eggs were well cooked though. The grilled cheese looked delicious but it was a complete mess. The fried egg was placed outside of the sandwich??? Why???We had to eat with fork and knife. A little weird to say a grilled cheese has too much filling but it just was too heavy, too soggy, and too much. Fries were nice and crispy, the dipping sauce was too salty. At this point, I have already drank so much water to wash it down. It was all together disappointing. Maybe I’ll try to come on a weekday and try the chicken sandwich.
