I've only been here once but i thoroughly enjoyed my experience. I take my grandparents out to lunch every week and I stumbled upon this place. My grandmother used to come here all the time in the 70s and I was looking for a Germanic restaurant so I insisted we try. We had the kielbasa and pierogies and it was Fantastic. The place has a home-y vibe, older and seems to cater to an elder crowd but even as a 32 year old I much prefer this. I will definitely be going back. I'm editing my review based on my most recent experiences: while I still find this place to be a pleasant time capsule and still recommend anyone to try it, the fare is so-so. It's more of a hangout spot, and that's okay too. Parking: Parking can be a little confusing but there's a lot connected to the restaurant that fits I'd guess 50-ish cars. Wheelchair accessibility: I'm pretty sure they have a ramp
Haven't been here in a while ... the food, beer, and service were really good and the prices were reasonable. Love the potato salad! I guess I shouldn't wait too long between visits.
Everything was delicious.
Wow, I am impressed by the food here! I was shocked to taste the German potato salad and the flavor was almost like my mother's! (she is from Germany) They just didn't have the bacon in it but the taste was amazing! I tried the stuffed schnitzel with mushroom sauce. It's stuffed with cheese and ham and a mushroom gravy on top. It is not stuffed with mushrooms which is how it reads on the menu. So even though it wasn't what I expected it was excellent! My daughter had the goulash with spätzle that was also really good and again I was highly impressed. The red cabbage is also awesome! My one problem was the atmosphere. We went for my granddaughters birthday, she's 8 and loves schnitzel. We were put in the side room which has a partial wall separating it from the main dining room. But there was a large table of men at the back, not very far from us eating and drinking. They were very loud and cursing up a storm! It didn't seem to matter that the restaurant was full, they acted like they were the only ones there! Both my granddaughters were very uncomfortable. The 8 year old is slightly autistic and she started crying after awhile and covering her ears. I had to take her outside to help calm her down. I get that this is a bar/restaurant but when children are around I would hope the clientele might consider taking it down a notch. I realize you can't control others but a restaurant says all ages are welcome, so hopefully they might ask another table to just be aware of their surroundings.
Great place to visit. Great staff to take care of you. Great atmosphere. Good food options. And good food. I would go back again.
Been going here for years, NEVER had a bad dish or brew. The menu has a lot to choose from & the price has always been reasonable. I normally get the Mushroom Stuffed Schnitzel or The Farmer's Feast Special. All the sides are great, and don't forget the Apple Strudel!! They also have a great selection of German brews & all other types of spirits. Listen, I can't say enough good things about this place. I'm just sad that they removed the stage where live bands used to perform. I believe Covid killed that entertainment. That was always fun dancing there & watching the hardcore "old timers" cut a rug, LOL!! It's just a great place to go sit, have a couple of drinks with a great meal & have a great time with family or friends! Keep it alive, Austrian Village!!
Great food. Great service. Good size portions.
