Aunties House Kitchen and Bar

This is the type of black owned restaurants Keith Lee is talking about. This is a long review but I have to get it out. Let's start with the service. Very slow and dry. Server took forever to take our orders. Looked like the owners or managers spent most of their time laughing and joking around the bar area and not focused on making sure the customers were taken care of. Server started off by offering us 3 options for water. Spring, Canadian or TAP. Who offers tap water? What restaurant doesn't have filtered water? I usually get water with my meal but since I didn't like the options I got the sweet tea. Big mistake. Tea tasted like someone put their cigarette out in it. Disgusting. No other drink options other than alcohol and I don't drink. I ordered the oxtail meal. Oxtails were tender and flavorful. Only 3 pieces but they were a good size. I asked for gravy for my rice and was told they don't have gravy. What did they cook the oxtails in? Oxtails should always have gravy. Greens were good. Also got an additional side of candied yams. They were canned sweet potatoes doctored up. After food was dropped off our server never came back to check on us. Hardly anyone was in the place so no excuse for that. Didn't see her again until she brought the bill. There was a 20% "event gratuity" added too my bill. I didn't know what that was for and didn't ask. I wasn't here for any event! I wasn't going to tip the server on top of that so I gave the exact amount for it all. When she took the money to the back and saw I didn't add an extra tip she came back and told me she removed the "event gratuity". They obviously hope you tip on top of that. I just gave her the 20% that the "event gratuity" would have been even though she didn't deserve it for not tending to us during the meal. This kind of shady practice is what gets these places shut down. I don't see them being open for long doing that. Food was overpriced and not worth a return.

The food was good and tasty. Our server RIKA was so helpful and friendly. She is new but you couldn’t tell. The ambience ehhh I’m not sure.. it was a lot of background chatter going on I feel it could have been drowned out with music. But other than that it was a nice restaurant with great food. Soul Roll ✅ Turkey wings ✅ Pasta ✅ Fried catfish ✅ Salmon ✅

Our server Jada was amazing. The food was great, and highly recommend the pasta and soul rolls.

Food was really good ! AJ the owner was very nice. The French toast was the best I’ve had. And my friend loved her oysters.

Whatever you do when it comes to this restaurant, don’t make reservations because it’s a hoax to get you there and then make you wait for over an hour to still be waiting for a seat until you cancel all together. I’m from Atlanta, and this is not how WE do business. I will support black owned businesses but prove me wrong and not be just what this turned out to be, poor customer service without taken a bite out of any of their “bragged” about signature dishes. If you want my business, be about your business.

Visited here for Sunday brunch and it was a 5/5. Our server was very sweet, the wait times were reasonable and the food was very well-seasoned/good. Definitely will recommend to other foodies in the area!

Food and drinks were great! Staff were very nice and friendly! Unfortunately the Service was very slow. We had reservations for 2 at 7:30pm on 4/13, however, we were seated 30 minutes later. Cornbread appetizer took about 30 minutes to come out and entrees took another 30 minutes after the cornbread. The Cajun pasta and fish and grits were delicious they were both seasoned and cooked nicely. Unfortunately, They were not prepared for the influx of customers. Hopefully, they’ll hire more staff to accommodate the demand. I recommend!!

Amazing food, wonderful staff including the owner/chef, nice location, good vibes all around! Please support this black-owned business!

Made reservations for 5:30, arrived at 5:15 and was told we could not be seated until 5:30, even through it was empty. At 5:30, we go back in for the hostess to seat us and as we are following her to the patio, she tells us to stay inside. The frown on her face was very unwelcoming. There was a waitress sitting down chatting with a table and the hostess asked her to take our table. That waitress walked in the building and came out minutes later with a to go container for the table she was chatting with. She went in and came back a few more times. 15 minutes later we left. There were two other parties on the patio. One asked for a manager and the other sent their food back. Thanks anyway Auntie.
