Artisan Roast Leith Walk

this morning we stopped with a friend to have breakfast, looking from outside at this truly beautiful and welcoming environment we were also convinced by a display of pastries which not only looked good but, even when eating them, they really were, the two girls always with a smile they served us at the table, bringing us two red cups in which I hoped there was an espresso, but unfortunately I wasn't even able to drink it because the smell alone completely closed my stomach and took away the desire to drink it; in the future I could probably also stop to get a pastry but for sure I will only ask for a glass of water!!! questa mattina ci siamo fermati con un amico per fare colazione, guardando da fuori questo ambiente veramente molto bello ed accogliente ci siamo lasciati convincere anche da una vetrina di paste che non solo sono sembrate buone ma, anche mangiandole lo sono state davvero, le due ragazze sempre con il sorriso ci hanno servito al tavolo, portandoci due tazzine rosse nel quale speravo ci fosse un espresso, ma purtroppo non sono riuscito neanche a berlo perché già dall’odore mi ha completamente chiuso lo stomaco e tolto il desiderio di berlo; in futuro probabilmente mi potrei anche fermare per prendere una pasta ma di sicuro chiederò soltanto un bicchiere d’acqua !!! The coffee is amazingly good. The rhubarb and raspberry cake is very light and delicious. It is a good place to hangout with friends and enjoy a cup of good coffee.

Lovely coffee, nice space to sit and generally pleasant staff. However, I really did not like how the screen was turned around as I went to order and pay with a 'do you want to tip screen?'. It came across as rude, I hadn't even received my coffee or sat down and it wasn't even full table service. I really object to 'service charge' creep in this manner and although it seems to be increasingly common throughout the UK, this is the first time I've seen it in an Edinburgh coffee shop. Please reconsider this, I can see it's been picked up in a few of the other reviews as well.
