It had been about 20 years since the last time I ate at an Applebees, and that was in another state, so I decided to give this one a try. Folks, don't bother. Save your money, or go to a fast-food place. Heck, find yourself a tray of week-old, unrefrigerated, gas station sushi! The experience will certainly be miles better than you will have at Missoula Applebees. My family and I decided to try this Applebees on Sunday, January 21, 2024. When we walked in, I noticed that the facility was showing definite signs of wear, and that should have been my signal to go elsewhere. I don't know whether she realized it or not, but our server's facial expressions and the attitude she projected gave us the feeling that we were a real inconvenience to her. We felt very uncomfortable. She was curt, and the 'service' was minimal. The restaurant was not busy, and it really ought to have been at 12:30 on a Sunday afternoon, which, in hindsight, is very telling. That said, I could easily observe the tables around us, and noticed that two other parties in our section were seated several minutes after us but still received their orders first. The food was awful. The fish portion of the fish and chips was overcooked and stringy. The cole slaw and tartar sauce were served in disposable plastic ramekins (classy!) and if the restaurant is that cheap then it begs the question: "What ELSE are they doing to cut corners?" My wife and I were both experiencing symptoms of foodborne illness within a few hours of leaving the restaurant, and we will not be back. EVER. In my opinion, it's easy to understand why I have heard some people refer to them as "Crapplebees."
Update 1/20/24 Just had a really good meal with great service. I had the Grilled Chicken with Grilled Shrimp with Garlic Mashed Potatoes. My wife had the Chrispy Chicken, Bacon Ranch. A really good chain family restaurant with good prices and service Applebee's is always a good place, with really great service and good food
