Phenomenal place, by far one of the best sushi spots in OC, but definitely make it early to avoid waiting for sitting. Go with the specialties but everything we've ordered has been phenomenal -- sushi rolls, sashimi, handrolls (spicy scallop is to die for), tempura, calamari... One of our monthly outings when we eat out. Update: This place is no longer good. The sushi rice was hot on an unbaked roll - like, legit they just did it. They had to thaw the toro because it was frozen solid and served me still frozen pieces of fish with a bed of hot rice underneath. The gal that was the hostess / server was rude, and off putting. Every single time before this update - that was 4 times - she had attitude, was angry, irritated, and one day looked like she'd been crying in the car. Each and every time we visited she had attitude, mind you, we're spending 150-200 on sushi and drinks but progressively bad attitude and behavior. We gave all of the chefs a chance since I came when they served some of the best sushi in orange county but that ship has sailed. Covid either affected their pallets or the overall quality went down, but it's not worth the price point. They charge upscale sushi prices for mediocre fish and even worse service.
I was traveling on business and stopped in at Ango Tei. The Mix Tataki and ponzu sauce dish was excellent! Hope Can't wait to make it back and try them again!
Refused me service. Racist. Don't even bother coming here.
