Honestly will never come back there if I’m hungry enough to eat an entree. Their appetizers (we got bruschetta and calamari) were 11/10, but entrees were horrible. First I got Gorgonzola steak fettuccine and it was so bad I had to return it and get chicken parm. (Which was okay) The service was really good and the waitress and the manager were really nice about me returning the dish! My friend got vodka penne and said it tasted burnt and weird… It is weird that all 3 entrees were not good. Their appetizers and service were amazing, it’s the entrees that make it not want to come back.
I WANT to love this place and rank it a 5, but I’ve noticed that the food quality has dwindled somewhat as of late. Used to love coming here for their reverse happy hours and mussel Mondays, but I have found that their shellfish quality has become inconsistent. Their pizzas/pastas are pretty good, but truthfully nothing to write home about. Their atmosphere is great in the main building, but the offshoot separate dining area is not my favorite. Service tends to be worse there too as it is more secluded. Always a wait of at least 30min it seems so budget for that or worse. Stand out items: House Chargrilled oysters, Bacon Gorgonzola mussels, Arancini Mediocre: pizzas, pastas, and fresh oysters
Angelo’s has become a go to of ours for happy hour. I now have cravings for their green chile ravioli, it’s so damn good. Gotta get some oysters and pizza too. Top it all off with a dirty martini and you’re in business.
Every neighborhood should have an Angelo's!!!!
Friendly staff but the bartenders added an extra drink to my tab (had to request it be removed) and then on top of that wouldn’t honor the happy hour menu prices advertised online. Sadly don’t know if I’ll be back :(
We have been looking forward to trying Angelo’s for some time now and had a very bad experience right when we arrived. This was the beginning of happy hour on Wednesday 1/31/24 and the restaurant was not busy at this time. As my boyfriend and I walked in, the hostess whose name is Bailey, looked at us and turned a different direction when we said hello. We awkwardly stood at the booth waiting for some acknowledgement, but nope, she continued to ignore us. Since we were oddly being ignored I asked for a window seat and she grabbed the utensils and menus and walked over to a table and dropped the items and turned back and went to the booth. There were zero words exchanged in our interaction and it was very uncomfortable. She was extremely unfriendly and oddly passive aggressive being that we were strangers and just arrived. We do not understand where the unwarranted and unnecessary attitude came from. We were shocked when she greeted the party that followed in just after us, very happily. It was obvious we were being blatantly ignored and punished for some odd reason and unfortunately we will not be returning. Thomas our server was absolutely lovely and was the only reason we didn’t stand back up and walk out. First impressions are important.
Arrived for Happy Hour just at 9 pm., after seeing a play at DCPA. Sat at the bar took a while for bartenders to offer drinks. We were ready to order the entire meals, which included ribs, cakes, oysters, and sliders. ALL delicious, hot, and freshly made. I enjoyed watching the cooks work their magic. Hector runs the kitchen like a well-oiled machine.
