The bread is made there and is so soft and delicious. Their food has great flavor and again the various bread, sweet purple or regular rolls etc are so so good! Service is excellent too!

Looks like i'll be the odd one out due to this place's rave reviews but i can only speak from experience. I've been here a total of 3 times since the pandemic started. Once before the pandemic, and twice after. The most recent time being a month ago or so. I went in and there were maybe 2-3 other people in front of me. I have no issue with waiting and i did so patiently. The first time i came here was when they were still doing the banh mi sandwiches and i ordered a few of those. They tasted terrible. The meat tasted like it was boiled and the bread was really stale. The second time i came i only ordered their beef emapanadas, two pandan rolls, an ube roll, 2 ube cheesecakes, and one ube square or bar. Everything was good but the girl packing my order forgot to pack one of my pandan rolls even though they charged me for it. The reason she forgot to pack it is because she and the other girl manning the counter were too busy chatting and laughing to pay attention to what they were doing. And although that was a small issue, i didn't notice the missing roll until i had gone home and unpacked everything. I had to call the store and ask for a refund as i couldn't go back for the cake. Another thing... i don't know if they changed the recipe on the ube bar or what but the last time i was there i got one, and it tasted super strange and almost like some sort of cinnamon coffee cake instead of an ube bar. My problem is with the attitude of one of the girls that works here. I've been unfortunate enough to come in when she's behind the counter and she's been pretty rude every single time. If they don't say hi when i enter, i'm ok with that, but when i go up to the counter to order and she goes "yes? what do you want?" That's kind of pushing it. I don't mind being overlooked or not greeted but there is no reason to be rude to someone when they're politely trying to order from you. Not to mention that after i order an item, she goes "anything else?!" In a rough tone, and it was pretty clear that she was annoyed. I won't go into details of who looks like what and all that but this is my experience and while others have had amazing service, i have not. Most likely i won't be back.

The food is good and the staff is kind. I like the pandasal sandwiches and Bhan mi.

Andell’s Bakery and Kitchen is located in a plaza just off the 56 / Ted Williams and Carmel Mountain Rd. I’ve been coming to this bakery for about 15+ years. This is something you’d find at my family gatherings. And getting a box of their Londres Cakes with Bavarian Cream is nostalgic as it is wonderful. It is a hit-or-miss, however, since the last two times I drove into San Diego to pick up a box, they were completely sold out of their Londres Cakes. I haven’t tried anything else from their shop other than these cakes but I have tried other flavors like Pandan and Vanilla. My favorite is still the Mocha and the Ube Londres. I’m so glad they decided to add more Bavarian Cream filling since it was always lacking years ago. Overall, I’d definitely recommend trying out this bakery — especially their Londres Cakes because I still have yet to find a cake place that makes them as spongey, moist and fluffy as Andell’s makes them. Make sure to call ahead to see if they have any before making the long drive out there!

The ube cake was so light and tasty. Frosting was perfect and not too sweet. Leaving the leaves on the strawberries was... A choice but the rest was still so good I couldn't give it any fewer stars
