American Tap Room

Disappointed. This place was great pre-pandemic (a very nice alternative to northside). Since then, the hours are not really suitable for a bar. I keep checking in to see if things have returned, but it doesn’t seem likely anymore.

Avoid. Items on menu not available. Beer stand oxidized. They lead you via qr code to an untappd beer menu but don't pay untappd so there's no beer menu. Forgot to put in my order

Six of us went for lunch after an event at UTD...after deciding and ordering, the only waitress disappeared, coming back to tell us that half our orders were not available...so no beer cheese sauce, no shrimp, no pretzel bites. Reordered...Beer came and mine was flat. Next thing we see some guy at the beer station filling up buckets of beer and dumping them. Only a few beers available. Food staggered out, two at a time. By the time the last order came..we were mostly done. And it was mostly apps! No explanation or apology offered...very strange!

This place has the potential to be awesome with a different cook and menu. Food was terrible, had a bit of a language barrier with the bartender, but the atmosphere is good. Definitely just a beer spot.

This is a great “go-to” place right after a rough day. Neha Vijayananda makes the best Cocktails. SHE IS THE BEST!!!!! It's located on the bottom floor of the Northside apartment complex next to the UTD campus. Northside Drafthouse is right across the street. The two bars make up a great place for UTD students to hang out. American Tap Room is hands down better in the atmosphere and service categories compared to Northside. The open airy space with cool grays and white tiles are wonderful, which is in direct contrast to the dingy run-down college bar look of Northside.

Was looking for someplace to grab a draft beer and sandwich for lunch - had never been here but a place called American Tap Room sounded like the kinda place we were looking for. I even looked on Untapped to see local or craft beers they might currently carry but only saw the standard bud, Miller, and coors. Walked in and sat down to find they have nothing on tap, not even the stuff listed in Untapped. I can’t speak to the food because we got up and left - we felt pretty deceived after looking at the name, online menus, and untapped to find out they have no real beer. Guess the name American Tap Room is the same thing as nicknaming a giant guy ‘tiny.

chicken wings were all very undercooked, chicken and waffles looked nothing like the picture, cold syrup, beer was 40% foam and not even filled to the top. Overall terrible experience

"Forced" to go here since Northside Drafthouse was closed for an event. The staff was very kind in greeting us when we initially walked in but lost interest in us the rest of the time we were there. We had to ask for silverware, napkins and all of our order accoutrements to be brought to us. The staff was very nice when interacting with them but did not show any attentiveness. Draft Beer selection is limited to 12 craft beers but all were decent beers. Food units ranged from awesome to soso. We ordered the brussel sprouts which were amazing. A huge basket of brussel sprouts comes out to your table with tons of flavor and bacon. The truffle fries were just average. Not much flavor to them but not bad either. We ordered wings but the guy from the kitchen came out and said he only had three bone-in wings and would boneless be okay. He offered to give us a few extra wings so we agreed. He was very nice and apologetic. The garlic parmesan boneless wings were very salty. It tasted like they use garlic salt and parmesan cheese for their flavoring. I hope in the future they would switch to a garlic powder or some other garlic base versus a salty garlic salt type coating. We did not receive any of the advertise ranch dressing or other sides that come with wings and had to ask for ranch dressing and the waitress brought out one despite having a big basket of wings. Our experience was average at best. I noticed on the door that their hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and closed on the weekend. I find this surprising that a place called American Tap room would have such limited hours next to a college campus. Perhaps they are rebranding?

Had raw chicken

Last year the guy running the place was awesome. Whatever students they've hired this year are clearly not cut out for anything outside a classroom. They never get your order right which sucks since the Taproom was the only legit burger place on campus. Also what's with the weird hours? A bar that closes at 4pm and isn't open on the weekends is just sad.
