Aloha Wagon

This is the ONLY AUTHENTIC HAWAIIAN restaurant that we could find in the Chicagoland and suburbs area. This is a must if you want to savor or reminiscent Hawaiian food. Spam Musubi - is a staple food that Hawaiian loves. My friend was thrilled to discover this was available in Chicago since he once lived in Hawaii for a few years. For vegetarians, I recommend the tofu pineapple sandwich. For meat lovers, all their food is great. My friend liked the Kahlua pork taco. For dessert, I recommend the pineapple coconut cheesecake!! It has a really nice crunchy crust and creamy well balanced fruit flavor and cream cheese. Drinks, recommend the Guava lime juice (ask for more lime if you like it more tart) and Pineapple tumeric chia juice. Or get the Kona coffee. The interior is nicely decorated with a cozy casual setting. Good for one person or small group. The staff are very kind and helpful.

Think of a food truck in Waikiki. Go for the sunset instead of the sunrise.

I visited around noon Saturday, there was no seats and busy. There were just few tables. Price was pretty decent I think… it was a huge amount food! Macaroni salad was good and I really like side of salad as well. Plate came with fries and fresh and hot. BBQ chicken was slightly overcooked and salty to me :/ Katsu plate was better. Staff was very friendly and nice! Btw Cona coffee(Hawaiian coffee) was good, I really enjoyed it!

Really liked the food here. It is a hole in the wall and the food is served in plastic so don't expect the Ritz. But it was very tasty, very nice service, and the cook even looked in and asked us how the food was. I had the grilled fish plate and my friend had the chicken, both delish.

Update 12/06/23: Aloha Wagon moved to a new location over a year ago and I have been meaning to update this review. I dropped in yesterday for lunch with ny dad and brother and we each had a mixed plate with different options to share. Everything was delicious and freshly made. My favorite is the Hawaiian BBQ but everything we ate was so good, you can't go wrong with any of the proteins. Service was fast and courteous. Ownership and staff are very welcoming and easy to conversate with. The restaurant itself is a step up from the previous spot. It definitely gives off tropical vibes and ambiance. Aloha Wagon is a must try if you are in the tri Taylor, Pilsen or little village areas and want something delicious and out of the local norm. ------------------------------------ I absolutely love this hidden gem. I have never been to Hawaii, nor have I had Hawaiian fare prior to being introduced to Aloha Wagon. I do know good food though.. This place definitely has good food!! They have several delicious items, but i suggest you try one of the combo plates. They are very generous with their portions so a combo plate can feed two people in most cases. Combo: Pick two of the meat (i suggest the spicy pork and the kalua pork), or vegan entrees.. and sit back and enjoy, along with a side of rice, some damn good potato mac salad and side green salad. Bonus: Try the pineapple, cheesecake bar, and the banana bread bar. Vegetarian options: Modifications can be made Parking: Street Park is available but difficult to come by

The best food I have ever had!!! We ordered one of each of the meat choices. Super flavorful and fresh. Flavor is crazy good. The Mac is phenomenal. Definitely don’t skip on the cheesecake bars! Complements to the chef!!!
