April 2024 Last month I gave a 5 star review - what a difference today - lucky to get 2 star. The service team were struggling - and the place was not busy. Tables were left uncleared, service was very slow, bill incorrect. The table of 4 next to us made complaint about their meal. To be fair our food food was ok. So clearly consistency of delivery is an issue. February 2024 We dropped in for lunch on a busy Friday - friendly welcome - great atmosphere - we ordered fish finger sandwich / bun + fries and took advantage of lunchtime deal which included a drink - so great value. Food arrived quickly - presented well - tasted good - so excellent all round. And special mention for our server 'Bella' - highly organised, engaged well - a great ambassador for All Bar One.

The "Ask for Clive" campaign in the U.K. emerged as a proactive response to combat discrimination and promote inclusivity within public spaces, particularly bars and pubs. Originating in 2019, this grassroots movement aims to provide a discreet and safe way for individuals to seek help when they feel uncomfortable or threatened due to their sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other reason. Named after Clive, a fictional character, the campaign encourages patrons to approach bar staff and "Ask for Clive" if they find themselves in distress or experiencing harassment. By using this code phrase, individuals can discreetly signal to staff that they need assistance without drawing attention to themselves or their situation. The campaign gained traction across the U.K. due to its simplicity and effectiveness in addressing issues of discrimination and harassment in social settings. Participating venues display "Ask for Clive" stickers and posters prominently, signalling their commitment to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all customers. For LGBT+ individuals, the "Ask for Clive" campaign serves as a lifeline, offering reassurance that help is available if they encounter hostility or discrimination while socializing. It empowers them to assert their right to safety and respect without fear of judgment or retaliation. Beyond its impact on individual safety, the campaign fosters a culture of solidarity and allyship within the hospitality industry. Bar staff undergo training to recognize the "Ask for Clive" code phrase and respond appropriately, further enhancing the effectiveness of the initiative. Moreover, the "Ask for Clive" campaign has prompted broader conversations about the importance of inclusivity and diversity in public spaces. It challenges societal norms and encourages businesses to actively support marginalized communities by providing tangible resources and support systems. One of the key strengths of the campaign lies in its scalability and adaptability. While initially focused on LGBT+ issues, the "Ask for Clive" concept can be expanded to address other forms of discrimination and harassment, such as racism, ableism, or sexism. This flexibility allows the campaign to evolve and remain relevant in a changing social landscape. Since its inception, the "Ask for Clive" campaign has received widespread praise and recognition for its positive impact on communities across the U.K. It has been endorsed by advocacy groups, politicians, and public figures alike, underscoring its importance in promoting equality and social justice. In conclusion, the "Ask for Clive" campaign represents a powerful example of grassroots activism and community empowerment. Providing a simple yet effective mechanism for seeking help, it not only enhances safety in public spaces but also promotes inclusivity and solidarity among individuals from all walks of life.
