The Pholourie and doubles were well made. Very delicious. I love chicken roti, however the order I had could use a bit more curry sauce. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who like trini food. I have been going there for years before I moved. It was nice to get some food from there over the weekend. Parking: Parking is difficult during business hours. You'll have to circle the block several times unless you park several blocks down, on a residentual block. Most people double park, which makes thing worse because it's a two way street.
My flight landed late, but I still caught the train from JFK & walked a few blocks to grab a curry chicken roti & some pepper sauce. We literally walked down the block to the corner & posted up in a wall, while we mash up wi food, hurrying to catch the train to the China bus to get back to DC. The flavor, the perfect texture, just the right amount of heat from the pepper sauce, & the Dahl Puri, laawd God. They don’t have 10 stars as an option here, so I’ll go with the 5. THIS, is as close to perfection as you could get. Wish we had one in the DMV..
I like the doubles- the counter person thought I was trying to scam them with a torn ten dollar bill (lmaoooo) which was wild because I don’t think I’ve been stopped for a torn bill since like 2003. ( I had just gotten change). I’m leaving this for others to beware and always make sure your currency is not torn before you go to Ali’s or they will make a fool out of you in the lobby even tho you can barely afford to eat out anyways. But if you have good proper money than you can enjoy an AMAZING DELOICIOUS $2 double. Veery good.
Fantastic need I say more. Only thing that has changed in all the years I have been getting food from Ali's is they remodeled but the food & staff remain incredible and pleasant respectively.
Vegetarian options: No comments, I'm a cannibal, but I burn trees and smoke gas I stay high! !! Peace and love ❤️
HORRIBLE CHICKEN ROTI AND CURRY CHICKEN DINNER!!!!!!! And the cook couldn't understand what I talking about. Franchises nowadays expect you to pay for and eat anything they give you
First time trying Trinidadian food & it was excellent. The staff were really friendly & helpful. I went with the goat platter - it came with a ton of delicious roti on the side. In the bowl was a mix of goat (some on the bone so best to use a fork and knife to help), pumpkin, spinach, and chickpeas in a nice sauce with a good level of spice. We also got a beef roti that came wrapped up almost like a giant burrito. It was a lot of food. My wife and I will probably split one dish next time but plenty of good leftovers. Heads up - cash only. Great spot.
