Alex's Bagel Shop

All terrific. My new bagel place!

Cinnamon and Sugar bagels are a must! Hibiscus iced tea is pretty great too! I used to frequent this shop when I lived in the area (As NY Bagels are tough to come across in the area), and I popped in this past weekend. The shop remains busy, cutely decorated, but the employees did not greet us with a hello or a smile. More of an in and an out experience yet it remains a solid bagel shop in the area. Kind of a bummer to read the recent reviews of similar instances when it never used to feel that way.

It was my first time here. The shop was quiet and cute. There was a small line and no one behind the counter. The servers skipped me in line and jumped to the man behind me. I ordered a Bacon Egg & Cheese on an Everything bagel. The bagel was hard as a rock & the egg was like rubber (felt faker than DD). I was excited to try this local spot, but never again. I’m not a fan of bad reviews so I hope this only brings attention and improvement. Thanks

I don't typically write negative reviews but my experience was so bad at Alex's I felt compelled to give feedback. The three workers who were in there were inattentive and rude when we asked questions making us feel extremely unwelcome. Almost to the point where we felt we were bothering them. On top of the terrible service their prices are expensive. $10 for an 8oz tub of cream cheese? I get this is a local place but it does not hold up to the reputation it has.

Astonished at seeing any negative review! Unwarranted! Unwarranted! Unwarranted! I am 90, have lived in NYC for many years and know my bagels and bialys. I feel blessed that Alex is here. I have a hard time finding them in NYC. Nowadays they are made cakey and holey like Wonder Bread. That paragon of authenticity, Zabars, leads the pack of pseudo bagels. I know as I get their gift baskets and cringe receiving them. 2024 bagels elsewhere can’t be compared to ones from the 30’s and 4O’s except at Alex’. Please patronize his shop. He probably has to pay top dollar for renting it. Labor cost has gone up a lot too. I buy in bulk and freeze.
