I are there last night for the first time and it was fantastic! All the dishes were delicious. It rivaled some of my favorite NYC Japanese restaurants. I would go back in a heartbeat

We were a large group and even with the restaurant very busy, timing of all items was great, quality fresh, and drinks perfect. Only feedback which was not a major miss was the overall physical temperature of the two tomahawks, probably should have stuck to the fish dishes.

The restaurant cancelled on me 2 hours before the reservation via voicemail, did not pick up when I called back (twice) and did not have the decency to call me back afterwards.

Akira Back, Delray Beach I am not into 'chi-chi' dining at all but I do enjoy good food at a reasonable value. Based on my research I new Akira Back was not going to be cheap but it was helmed by a Michelin Star Chef and it was a splurge night. Turned out Akira Back was not my cup of Saki. Let me count the ways: 1. ...Saturday night the decibel level was near ear shattering. So much so that even my hearing aids couldn't compensate for the din. Almost impossible to hear my companions. The weather was iffy, but the manager offered to set us up outside with a few other intrepid guests and luckily they had large patio umbrellas, because of course it started to rain. 2. Cocktails in a high-end restaurant should be a given especially at Akira, the Lychee Martini. We ordered 4. This (my girlie drink go to with Sushi, no offense ladies!) and one that should be floral and Sweet... to all of our palates this version was surprisingly not. In fact it was almost sour-ish. When brought to the attention of the waiter he was surprised but the drinks were immediately exchanged for different cocktails. Mine a Rasberry Mule, satisfactory. One good thing I could say was that as requested, we recieved 3 Lychees! 3. For the apps we ordered the touted Sushi Pizza ($29.), aka small thin sliced Tuna on a Cracker Crust with a few jalapeno slivers and no sauce accompaniment. 8 small slices, maybe 2 bites each. Dissapointing. 4. Next, the Seaweed Salad, Constructed ($16.) (beautiful presentation) and immediately deconstructed per our waiter's suggestion into a mish-mash on a plate. Tastey. Worth the price on any planet? Nope. 5. For the main we ordered the Perfect Storm Roll and the Hot Mess Roll (~$26. ea). Honestly, bland and nothing special. I've had better at many a lower end Sushi restaurant. 6. Black Cod with Saki Foam $42. for an estimated 5 oz (or 4 oz) piece of fish, Really? We thought it was interesting when ordering the waiter suggested we order sides with that main... Now we knew why. I'm not quite sure why many in this group think this stuff is fabulous/great. What are their benchmarks? I searched through the postings and even posted my own query. Should have known from my post, and only a handful of respondents out of the 135,000 members of Let's Eat South Florida that the reception of Akira was luke warm. Overall, the four of us were Underwhelmed, We Over Paid and We're Still Hungry. On a bright note we were lucky to find street parking on a busy Saturday night in Delray. Hotel Ray valet parking was $25.

I had the best meal of my life at AB in Istanbul, so when I saw there was a location nearby on a trip I had to share the experience with my GF. We went for NYE prefix menu, first seating. It was a mess, took over 1 hour to get the first dish from being seated. Drink order was not even taken for 20+ mins from being seated. Just doesn’t feel acceptable for a restaurant of this caliber charging what it is. Bathrooms were absolutely disgusting and not attended to the whole night, let the GM know on the way out. The above is a huge bummer because the food was fantastic. The classics like the tuna pizza never fail but one of our favorites was the caviar ball to start the meal. At $275 pp + 20% auto gratuity, not sure I can say it’s worth the price given the poor experience.

Don’t get Nazo 9! Get $160 of wagyu, save your money. Server was fine. Ambiance was dry and boring. Food was overrated…. Tuna pizza = 10/10 Wagyu tacos = 4/10 (go to Kuro for better Wagyu tacos) Nazo 9 = 1/10 (get $160 of wagyu, save your money) Maybe our palate wasn’t refined enough… but the Nazo 9 was gross. Looked cool. Every dish got worse. I imagine they put all the fish they can’t sell in there like the kitchen sink and then make money like bandits instead of the actually expensive Wagyu. Server was apologetic and comped a drink and a free dessert. But the damage was done, our stomachs were sick. $3 Pizza the slice cured the Nazo 9’s curse on our date.

Came here for New Year’s Eve tonight. Overall it was really good. A few things that made me not give it 5 stars: 1) the wagyu beef was really tough and chewy… I actually had to spit it in my napkin at one point 2) our last course (the sushi) took forever to come out. 3) we were freezing outside and confused how there were only 2 heaters. Many other tables seemed annoyed by that. Everything else though was great. The tuna pizza was unreal. I think for 1000 dollars for two people though, the wagyu really should’ve been better and a little more organized overall. It seems the staff was unaware of a lot due to last minute changes by the chef. Our waitress Savannah was excellent and so kind and made it so enjoyable for us.

Good service . Delicious food . Need more heaters for the outside patio. Washrooms need better attention from staff.
