An unpretentious and inexpensive restaurant that serves really great food. The menu is extensive, but I always get my favorite scallion pancakes ($5.60). My friend and I also shared Braised Pork Rice ($7.85), Bean Curd Skins with Mustard Greens ($5.10), and Beef Noodle Soup $15.35). Your credit card won't work here. It's cash only.
Washingtonian’s 100 very best list brought us here. The handmade noodles were decent. I didn’t enjoy the food much, my husband, who is a noodle and dumpling fan, enjoyed it. Hence the 4 star. May go in to try other items, and update the review if I change my mind.
Very plain interior. But the food is outstanding. Get the garlic cucumbers and anything with the wide noodles. Excellent
We always go to A&J in Rockville, Maryland, which is closer to us, but we have come to this branch only once when our family visited from out of town. The food tastes pretty much the same, and it's always so satisfying! I love love their hot and sour noodles (thick noodles). My husband loves their beef noodle soup. My kids love their minced pork over rice, and pork chops over rice. We also love the sides.
Pleasant experience at one of the best Chinese restaurants in Northern Virginia. Tried some new dishes this time. The slice beef unbeknownst to us was cold and a bit flavorless. But the rest of these three dishes were spectacular. The vegetable dumplings will always be an all time favorite and the chili oil is amazing.
This is the place to go if you want great authentic Chinese food at a reasonable price. Everything is fresh, homemade, and delicious. The atmosphere is unassuming but gives the impression that you are in for a treat. 10/10 would recommend. If you are intimidated by the menu not having the Americanized Chinese favorites, just pick at random or ask the staff. You won’t be disappointed.
Good food! They used to be cash only, but they take card now.
A&J's is a legitimate Taiwanese food restaurant. The food is authentic and it attracts a lot of customers. We have been going there for 14 years. This month they changed their menu to no longer include breakfast items (which was one of the best reasons to go). But the other lunch/dinner items are still amazing. Highly recommend. It's busy so get there early and be prepared to wait. They will give you a menu so that you can be prepared to order when you finally get to sit down.
