I love the food

Just nope yourself out of this one. There is one in Selma that is/was far better than this location. DeZavala A Dong seems like it survives on luck or banquets/catering. My party of 2 visited on a Saturday for late lunch leaving at 3:30pm. When we arrived there was only one other table of 2 in the restaurant, they left and one more table of 2 arrived before we left. 3 front of house staff and I saw 2 kitchen staff. To me the food is not terrible but it is bland. Inside is like a nice place that is going out of business. They have maybe 100 plastic totes, tables and chairs stacked in a hallway and one section of the restaurant which makes me think they do a lot of private events to survive. The main draw back was the place smelled like sewage, even being seated directly behind the greeting counter towards the front door, indicating a cleanliness or infrastructure problem. I won't say the staff is rude but typical experience where they don't offer you anything, you have to flag them down for more drinks, an extra napkin, dropped silverware, etc. They forget to put in orders or put it in then don't have it but forget to let you know so you need to track it down. Place was late lunch time and quiet so it wasn't like there were a lot of customers to help.

Came in for brunch. This was my second visit. I had Vietnamese style soup with shrimp. Only one other party in restaurant. Okra in soup was great, additionally pineapple. It was delicious and took home most of it, so large. Maybe get 3 more meals from it. Highly recommend. Could use some Vietnamese music! Not rock and roll.

Good Vietnamese food. Nothing special, just general viet comfort.

Don’t ever come here!!!! Stay away!!! We had our lunch here. The food was mediocre. We have Canh Chua Catfish and it was smelling bad. We also ordered fried fish with fish sauce and the fish smelled like it was fronzen in 6 months. We had enough when the Vit Xa Xiu came out, it was like old and stale we couldn’t eat it then I decided to tell the server. He said he would give us a discount on that ???? Later on, the bills came out and they gave us $5 discount on $150 bill and they even automatically added 18% tip + service fee. This is the worst restaurant by far I have ever been. Never comeback and will share it on social medias if they don’t contact me and apologize.
