We had two of the chef’s special - he had the goat dish and I had the eggplant dish. Both excellent! We also got the veggie biryani (much spicier than we expected, but still very good). The samosas are spiced well. For me their naan is the best in town. It’s much thinner than other places. We went on a Tuesday and no need for a reservation. The man who seated us and the server were so nice. I had lots of food questions and our server knew a lot and answered them well. Their other restaurant is Spice Club in Brownsburg and it's excellent, too. If you’re vegetarian there are less dishes here than I normally see on the menu at Indian restaurants, but they’re still enough to choose from (the eggplant dish I got was vegetarian and totally unique from what I’ve had before and delicious).
Mugali Kofta was delicious!
I went with my eldest child for their birthday based on a recommendation from a friend. The service and food was beyond excellent! The atmosphere was lovely, music was great and not too loud. We did not sit at the bar but went in to look around. They really did a great job decorating. It gave me vibes of being back in Bangaluru. I will definitely go back, wish I lived closer. If you love Indian food, go!
Lovely place, great service, legit Indian cuisine. Kudos to Sabio, who’s a very helpful and engaging guy.
We came in couple of weeks ago and we stayed late 4 of us the food was so good that we all ended up sharing our plates and all 4 plates were amazingly tasteful the owners were meeting there and they offered us free drinks that was my second time there hands down best Indian fusion cuisine in Indianapolis and the server was so funny he made the whole experience even that much better!!!!! If you’ve never been there try it you will not regret it!!!!! Thank you 1947!!!!
What a wonderful restaurant. From the time you enter, you’ll notice this is not a typical Indy Indian restaurant. From the “am I in a cool Mumbai nightclub decor?” to inspired creative dishes like sushi with a South Asia twist, this place is a great addition to Indy’s culinary scene. The curries were flavorful, complex, and just the right level of spice. Our tandoori momos (dumplings) were unique and well-presented. Even the rice was prepared with attention to detail. We appreciated our engaging customer service - thanks for the great explanations and care, Salvio. Can’t wait to visit again. Especially to try the Schezwan Noodles and Hakka fried rice. You should try this place!
Could not recommend 1947 Eatery & Lounge more! My friend and I get together occasionally, and almost always choose to meet here. We've had many of the dishes, and every single one has been delicious. Respectful & attentive service, plus a familiar, friendly welcome is always appreciated. Please just go and try everything you can! Bonus~ we always leave with leftovers!
