1892 Restaurant

I’m shocked at how great a meal here must have been for others on other days. We didn’t get waited on for over a half hour… the flat bread was delicious, as was the duck and the chocolate dessert… the other two entrees were terrible… the lettuce wraps were almost inedible arriving with a sloppy presentation, the risotto was gummy and bland… our waitress was delightful but service was painfully slow!!!! Won’t come back or recommend to others.

I know many know this place and this was our first time. Drive was lovely to this quaint town. This is so Tennessee to me. Just walking up I loved this place. Small intimate location as you approach. Not many tables so y'all need reservations. Greeted with a great Old Fashioned and great drinks from the bar. We had the chicken flatbread with chicken and the risotto. Both were delicious especially if you love mushrooms. The plates were generous and the service was good. Great atmosphere and worth the drive. Great place for a date but probably less for a big party. Gem in Leipers Fork. Look forward to it next time. Vegetarian options: Parking on the street

I very very rarely give a negative review, but in this case it is warranted. My husband and I decided to try lunch here for the first time. We waited 6-7 minutes to be acknowledged at the hostess station, then were seated in a dining room with 2 other tables, with another larger table in the other room. We watched the hostess walk past us no less than half a dozen times over a period of 9-10 minutes, (taking drinks one by one to another table) never spoke to us, or even offered a glass of water. Finally (after being there a total of more than 15 minutes) a waiter took the drink order at the table next to us and gave them the names of the soup of the day and the special. He came to our table and said “did you hear that?” And walked over to the third table and took their order. We got up and left. (Which I haven’t done in years) As we were sitting outdoor at Fox & Locke a few doors down, we overheard two other couples complaining they were ignored and left also. I understand restaurants are sometimes short handed, but we (and others) were ignored instead of having the situation explained or even addressed. This is not the way to do business and we won’t be back.

Shrimp & Grits are out of this world delicious. Worth it for the food and experience. AS OF APRIL 6, 2023, CLOSING RESTAURANT!!!!!!!!!

The dinner was delicious with a new menu being offered often! I had the scallops and my husband had the fillet. Both tasted fresh and seasoned just right. The tuna stack was amazing! The atmosphere is like being transported back in time to an old farmhouse. So fun for our group of 8.

Lovely experience. Everyone was kind and attentive! Highly recommend the 1892 Burger! The caesar salad with the bacon tomato jam + toast was also amazing. Can’t wait to come back!

I can’t say enough about the Salmon toast!! A must try appetizer. However, be warned it is very generous serving!

Food ranges from just OK to pretty terrible. Very pricey. Atmosphere is quaint and overly bright at dinner. Located in a somewhat remote but very affluent location, they have no competition within miles. Lazy and unpredictable execution of an unimaginative menu that hasn’t changed significantly in years, it could be so much better.
