Old restaurant from 1962. Loved the ambience. Our server was excellent, as was the food. I ordered pork chops, and they were cooked to perfection. My wife got the brioche coated halibut but requested that it be cooked without the brioche. Again, cooked to perfection. The farmhouse salad was ok, and the chocolate dessert was salty. I mentioned that to our server, who had it removed from our bill without my asking. I was just making a casual comment that I had found that at many upscale restaurants, this had become a popular trend.
BEWARE! Went here for a special occasion and my autistic son ate seafood. Woke up sick as a dog. Ruined our weekend. Nausea and horrible cramping and diarrhea. I let 1789 know. They called us, sent emails, asked us to talk to their food safety manager. End of the day did nothing but propose the absurdity of offering a discount if we returned. Appalling. This is not good business nor hospitality. Their reputation has been floundering for years. Now I see why. Save your dining experience for one of the many DC restaurants that is safe and cares.
Extremely disappointed and disgusted to see they are serving Foie Gras on their Easter menu. This extremely cruel and unnecessary practice has been banned in many places.
Amazing Easter Brunch! Thoroughly enjoyed the Easter Brunch experience at 1789. The menu, ambience, and service were exceptional. Gluten Free options available as well.
Had our 32nd anniversary dinner there and WOW!! Incredible meal and wonderful service. Great drinks as well. Thank you
We got food poisoning after eating here and I reached out via email and phone and never heard back. Service was great but ridiculous to get food poisoning and not even get a response after letting them know. We won’t be back.
Excellent food, and service. One of my favorite restaurants in the metro area.
